On the occasion of the 36th National Day for Assisting Disabled Persons, the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), together with the Department of Rights Protection of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), organized a group of Beijing-based CPPCC members to visit a themed event at the Shuyong Museum of Modern Art in Daxing district on May 10.
Along with local representatives from the community of persons with disabilities and volunteers, the delegation took part in a series of tech-and-culture-themed activities, including AI-assisted reading for the visually impaired, AI-powered art experiences, an inclusive calligraphy, painting and photography exhibition, and accessible e-sports interactions. Through immersive activities, they exchanged insights with persons with disabilities and offered encouragement to them.
The theme of this year's National Day for Assisting Disabled Persons is "safeguarding the equal rights and interests of persons with disabilities and promoting their inclusive development." The event serves as a concrete step to thoroughly fulfill CPPCC members' commitment to serving the people, and harness technological progress to safeguard equal rights and promote inclusive development through AI, so as to build a better life shared with persons with disabilities.
The event was attended by some CPPCC National Committee members and officials from the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, the CDPF's Department of Rights Protection, and the disabled persons' federations of Beijing municipality and Daxing district.
