Cheng Kai, chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), met with a delegation headed by Otgon Saranchuluun, a member of Mongolia's State Great Khural (Parliament), in Beijing on Sept 11. Chang Zheng, a member of the Leading Party Members Group of the CDPF, attended the meeting.
On behalf of the CDPF, Cheng welcomed Saranchuluun and her delegation and briefed them on China's advancements in disability affairs. He noted that China has incorporated the development of disability affairs into its overall national economic and social development plans, driving continuous progress.
Through legislative measures, China has strengthened the protection of the rights and interests of people with disabilities, continuously improved social security and care service systems for this population, leveraged new technologies such as artificial intelligence to empower their development, and promoted the values of equality, integration, and sharing, Cheng said. These initiatives have helped cultivate a supportive social atmosphere where more people with disabilities can live an independent live with dignity, he added.
Cheng highlighted that the CDPF is currently taking the leading role in drafting the plan on protecting the rights and interests of people with disabilities and promoting the development of disability affairs during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).
He added that the CDPF is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with the Mongolian side in disability-related fields, enhance the well-being of people with disabilities in both countries, and promote people-to-people bond, jointly contributing to the building of a China-Mongolia community with a shared future.
Saranchuluun lauded China's remarkable achievements in the development of disability affairs, and thanked China for its support in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities in Mongolia. She expressed willingness to learn from China's experiences, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CDPF in various disability-related areas such as legislation, employment, assistive devices, and sports.
Leading officials from the CDPF's Department of Rehabilitation, Department of Education and Employment, and Department of International Liaison also attended the meeting.
