The China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) and the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) from the United Arab Emirates renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in Beijing on May 27.
Zhou Changkui, vice-chairman of the CDPF and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the CDPF, met with the visiting ZHO delegation prior to the signing ceremony and witnessed the renewal of the MoU.
You Liang, vice-chairman of the CDPF Board of Executive Directors, and Secretary-General of the ZHO Abdullah Abudalee Al Humaidan, signed the renewed agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Zhou welcomed the delegation and introduced recent developments in China's cause of persons with disabilities. He noted that since the initial signing of the MoU in 2021, the two sides have maintained close exchanges, forged a strong friendship, and achieved fruitful outcomes. In particular, the co-hosted Belt and Road China-Arab States Seminar on Disability Cooperation has been held twice, establishing an important platform for dialogue and collaboration. He emphasized that the renewed MoU offers a valuable opportunity to enhance exchanges, build consensus, deepen cooperation, and contribute to the upcoming 2026 China-Arab States Summit, as well as the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future.
ZHO Secretary-General Al Humaidan praised China's accomplishments in promoting the wellbeing of persons with disabilities. He expressed the hope that this visit would offer a comprehensive understanding of China's distinctive approach and practices, and that the renewed MoU would serve as a new starting point for further advancing China-Arab cooperation in this field to benefit people with disabilities in both regions.
Under the renewed MoU, the two sides will pursue practical cooperation in areas such as education and employment for persons with disabilities, assistive rehabilitation devices, sports and cultural activities, and social services.
During their visit, the ZHO delegation will also tour institutions and facilities in Beijing and Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, that focus on rehabilitation, education, sports, and accessibility. Representatives from relevant CDPF departments, affiliated organizations, special associations, service institutions for persons with disabilities, and enterprises also took part in the activities.
