Zhou Changkui, chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), met with Nepal's Ambassador to China Krishna Prasad Oli in Beijing on April 9.
Zhou welcomed Oli and gave a rundown of the CDPF's work in advancing the cause of people with disabilities in China. He said that, with the support of government, China has made remarkable progress in promoting the wellbeing of persons with disabilities. Significant improvements have been made in rehabilitation, education and employment services, with ongoing enhancements in both service quality and capacity.
Zhou emphasized that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and brain-computer interfaces are creating new opportunities to improve both the material and spiritual lives of persons with disabilities. He noted that the CDPF is advancing the research and application of assistive technologies to ensure people with disabilities can fully benefit from the fruits of technological progress.
He also highlighted the status of China and Nepal as close neighbors and partners. Noting the shared philosophies and approaches in disability affairs between the two countries, Zhou said China is ready to further expand cooperation with Nepal. He hoped that joint efforts would help persons with disabilities in both countries better share in the achievements of economic and social development and further deepen people-to-people ties.
Ambassador Oli spoke highly of China's achievements in the cause of people with disabilities and expressed a strong interest in learning from China's experience. He said he looked forward to advancing practical cooperation with the CDPF in areas such as assistive devices, technology for disability support, personnel training, and technical exchange.
Officials from the CDPF's Department of International Liaison also attended the meeting.
