You Liang, vice-chairperson of the Board of Executive Directors of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), met with visiting Mário César Martins de Camargo, the Rotary International president for 2025-26, on Jan 7.
You extended a warm welcome to Mário, praising Rotary International's humanitarian services worldwide. He introduced the development history, organizational structure, work model, and recent achievements of the CDPF. He noted that the Chinese government places people at the center of its policies, with special attention given to the cause of persons with disabilities, integrating it into the country’s overall economic and social development plans and continuously promoting the comprehensive development of persons with disabilities.
You added that, in recent years, public welfare and charity activities have flourished in China, developing into a significant and influential sector. The CDPF is ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with like-minded social organizations worldwide to enhance the welfare of persons with disabilities and contribute to human development and progress.
Mário commended the progress made by China in the cause of persons with disabilities and said he hoped to strengthen exchanges with the CDPF, explore cooperation pathways, and support the development of China's charity sector.
Rotary International, founded in 1905 in the United States, has 46,000 branches in more than 220 countries and regions worldwide, dedicated to promoting goodwill and peace through charitable services.
Officials from the CDPF's International Department also attended the meeting.
