CDPF vice-chairman attends conference on disability in Russia

Jia Yong, vice-chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF) attended the first plenary conference of the Council on Disability Affairs of the China and Russia Committee on Friendship, Peace and Development from July 8 to 11 in Moscow.

Jia, as the council's Chinese chairman and his Russian counterpart co- hosted the conference.

The conference reviewed the achievements of the council in the past five years. The two sides fully exchanged views on rehabilitation, education, employment, poverty alleviation, culture and sports of people with disabilities, and reached consensus on pragmatic cooperation in the future.

Jia noted that the council is a significant platform for cooperation between the two countries in affairs of the people of disabilities, adding that the two sides should expand people-to-people exchanges, encourage and support communication between organizations of disabled persons, explore new areas of cooperation, initiate projects that directly benefit people with disabilities, and promote their well-being in both countries.

Russia and China have broad potential for cooperation and many available resources in the field of people with disabilities, according to the council's Russian chairman. He said he expected the two sides to take advantage of the 70th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relationship, to promote pragmatic cooperation, expand experience exchanges, strengthen friendly communication, and make further progress in enhancing the effect of the platform.

Jia also met with the chairman of the Russia Disabled Persons’ Federation during his visit to Russia.
